Tourist Attractions in Bangalore
It was built by the Wadyar king at the heart of the city in 1887 as a replica of the Windsor Castle in British Tudor architecture. People are allowed to enter this palace in the first week of November every year.
Summer Palace of Tipu
To a little south of the ruined fortress near city market at the crossing of Krishna Rajendra and Albert Victor Rd is situated the Summer Palace (made of stone and wood) Raksh-e-Jannat of Tipu Sultan. The rich craftwork on wood and stone is unparalleled. It was Hyder Ali who started the construction of Raksh-e-Jannat in 1778 and it was completed in 1791 by Tipu.
Kempegowda Fort
King of Vijayanagar donated the land to the Yelahanka tribe. Obtaining the land the sardar of that tribe Kempe Gowda founded his kingdom and a fort afterwards. The fort was built in 1537 and is situated on Krishna Rajendra Rd, 4km to the south of City Market.At first the fort was made of mud.Afterwards it was reconstructed by Hyder Ali with stone. His stone Tipu renovated it and in a battle between Tipu and the British, the fort was destroyed. The Kalhasteswar or the temple of Ganesha still exists.
Lal Bagh
A gift from Hyder Ali, the garden spanning across 240 acre houses myriad of flowers, tropical plants, trees and herbs.
The Glass House or the Marriage Room built after London's Crsytal Palace is its prime attraction and the bi-annual flower shows is held in the Glass House attracting numerous participants from all across the country. Artificial lake, lotus-pond, fountain, rose garden, and deer park have added to the beauty of the garden.
Iskcon Temple
The latest attraction of the city is the Krishna temple of Iskcon, spread over 7 acres on Harekrishns hillock ,built at an expanse of Rs 32 crore. It is located on Chord Road.
Built in the 16th century by Kempa Gowda in Dravidian style of architecture. The Bull Temple is a temple of Nandi on Bagal hill located to the south of the city.
The Gangadhareshwara Temple
To the N-West of Bull Temple there is sree Gavi Gangadhareswar cave built by Kempe Gowda. It is a superb example of astronomical and architectural craftsmanship. Four monolithic pillars form the base of the temple. On Makar Sankranti, the rays of the sun pass between the horns of Nandi and fall on the core chamber of the temple. Pilgrims from distant places gather on this auspicious day.
Attara Kacheri
Built in 1868, the High Court building or Attara Kacchari is made of brick and stone showcasing the magnificient Gothic Style of architecture. The two- storied building is a fine example of classical European style of architecture.
The Dharmaraja Temple
Dedicated to Swami Dharamraja, this well maintained temple is also dedicated to the Lord Krishna occupies an important place in the Hindu religion. The wall of the temple is embellished with colourful sculptures. The stone sculptures and carvings found in the premises of the temple is worth watching.
Dargah Hazrat Tawakkal Mastan
Located in Cottonpet, this Muslim shrine has a 200 years old history and visited by both Muslim and non-Muslim pilgrims in order to pay a vist to the sufi saint.
Jama Masjid
It is the oldest mosque in the city situated in K. R. Market embellished in granite pillars covering the elevated prayer hall. Thousand of muslim worshippers visit the masjid during the annual festivals of the Muslims.
Ravindra Kalakshetra
Set up to mark the birth centenary of the Noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the Ravindra Kalashetra promotes cultural and entertainment activities in the state. It has a well equipped theatre, hi tech auditorium for the audience.
St. Mary's Church
Established in 1811 by a French missionary Abbe Dubois, St.Mary's church is located near the Shivaji Nagar Bus Terminal. It is the only church in Karnataka state that has benn accorded the status of a minor Basilica. Its graceful interiors adorned with stained-glass windows are something to be seen. Every year in the month of September, people assemble in large numbers to celebrate St Mary's Feast.

It is the premier research institution of the country offering research scope in advanced science and engineering studies.
Gandhi Bhavan
Located on the Kumara Krupa Road, the Gandhi Bhavan was started as Gandhi Smarak Nidhi having a comprehensive picture gallery where the photographs of Bapu right from his early childhood to the day when he breathed his last are displayed. It also houses various letters written by him to different leaders and also placards with the famous quotes of Mahatma.
Innovative Film City
The Film City located on Mysore Road offers the pleasure of watching how a movie is shot.
Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium
Founded in 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation, it is located on Sir. T Chowdaiah Road. The Planetarium has a sky theatre with 15.0 meters diameter dome and a seating capacity of 210. It has Science Centre and a Science Park in its premises.
Ulsoor lake
Located N-East of Cubban Park, Ulsoor lake is a popular tourist spot. Arrangements of boating and swimming are there in this emerald green lake.
Vidhana Soudha
To the N-West of Cubban Park, there is the State Assembly Hall, built in 1954. A specimen of Dravidian style of architecture, the area of the building is 505000sqft. Huge doors made of sandalwood of the Cabinet potray fine craftsmanship. Besides, State Assembly, there is the Secretariat in this 46m high building.
Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall
Made in gothic architectural design and red in colur, this building was constructed to commemorate Sir K.Seshadri Iyer, the Dewan of Mysore State from 1883 to 1901.A public library has been opened in the memorial hall.
Cubbon Park
It is an oasis of majestic Bangalore. Like a skilled architect, nature has erected a beautiful cluster of bamboo trees which is a heaven for nature lovers. In 1864 this park built by Lord Cubbon, the British Viceroy covering 300 acre of land in the cantonment city is frequented by fitness freaksand those looking for solitude. The fairy fountains and an august bandstand were added afterwards. The park houses several government buildings modelled along neo-classical style namely Vidhana Soudha. The Public Library, the Government Museum, the High Court, Children's amusement park, Doll museum are located inside the park. The park is no less than dreamland for the children. For the children, it has toy train and horse ride adding pleasure.
Government Museum
Located at the Kasturba Gandhi Road, adjacent to the Cubbon park, the Government Musuem one of the oldest museums in the country. Colonel Sankey is given the credit for designing the main building in the year 1876. The musuem houses eighteen gallaries. It has the collections of 5000BC Mohenjodaro sculpture, ancient coins and stone inscription along with the findings from Halebid and Vijayanagar are on display for visitors. Besides, prehistoric artifacts are also kept here. There is Venkatappa Art Gallary, where pictures and porttarits, Plaster of Pariss work and carvings on wood are kept.
Visvesvaraya Technological and Industrial Museum
Located on Kasturba Rd, it is adjacent to the Government Museum. Use of science in industry or for human development is highlighted.
The Bangalore Race Course
Slated as one of the finest in the country, the Bangalore Race Course is nestled in midst of lush greenary situated right in the heart of the city. Racing events take place through out the year. It has three training tracks, a swimming pool, training schools, a veterinary hospital and provides stabling for more than 1000 horses.
